PLATEFORME 10

Identity for a new arts district

A competition-winning concept for a name and visual identity for a new arts district in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Symbolising movement and vibration, which reflects the ever-changing nature of the arts, our PLATEFORME 10 design concept unites three museums, each with their own unique identities – the Musée Cantonal des Beaux-Arts (fine arts), the Musée de l’Elysée (photography) and the mudac (design) – into one striking and instantly recognisable visual identity.

As an extension of Lausanne’s main station, our chosen name PLATEFORME 10 implies a place for exchanging ideas, which can be digital or analogue. The ‘Google Earth’ logo design was inspired by the station’s historic railway turntable, and for the primary text font, we developed a custom typeface – Prismatext Regular and Bold – in collaboration with the Swiss type foundry Lineto.
